A “WOE ME” Tale or a “WOW ME” Story?

Decision making is an important aspect of life which we cannot do without. We are all faced with options on a daily basis and we have to always make a choice. No one can boast of making absolutely perfect choices all the time. We get our fingers burnt sometimes; we take decisions that set us back, some with very grave and damaging consequences whilst we get away with many others.

I dedicate this piece to someone reading this, who has done something in the past that has left a very bad taste in his/her mouth. You have lived in a state of pity, grief for many years and you are so unwilling to forgive yourself and let go.  Also dedicated to that person who feels nothing good can come out of their lives. Let’s look at what the Bible says about you. Just an example or probably 2 or 3 and we’ll be done.

Moses was raised in the palace by divine orchestration and at some point, he went out to see “his people” the Israelites. He came at the nick of time when one of the Egyptians was harassing an Israelite. Exodus 2:12 says And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.” He eventually fled Egypt as a fugitive. He was a murderer who was WANTED.  But you know what? God brought him back as a HERO from zero and he became Israel's greatest deliverer. Nothing was ever mentioned about the murder he had committed. The atrocity was carried out only 40 years earlier and even though Pharaoh had died, the reigning Pharaoh never had a record of this brutality by Mr Moses. If the reigning Pharaoh was not a son of the late King, He must have at least been around the palace long enough to have known about this great misdemeanour. Nothing, absolutely nothing was said about it.  The finger of God had wiped it off the records!

God didn't consult Apostle Paul's past to determine his future. He was a persecutor of the church who did awful things, yet He became one of the greatest Apostles of Christ, writing about 2/3 of the New Testament. Something amazes me; God didn't consult their past to give them a glorious future. Their past life was not a deterrent for where God was going to take them to. The same thing applies to you; In the first place, He didn't consult you when He brought you into this world and He won’t even consult you when He’ll take you away. Don't let no devil, person or even yourself stop you from where God is taking you too! Who is He that condemns? It is God who justifies. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ; who continue in grace….. (Rom 8:1).

On the Other hand, you might not have done anything wrong in the past but you have just concluded that there is nothing fantastic about your life. You have tried many things and you end up failing. You are often embarrassed because it appears you never have headway in anything you lay your hands on. Your background often taunts you and people have often nicknamed you based on your persistent failure. There is a need in your life that brings shame consistently and maybe you have been named the fanatic who’s got nothing to show for it. Hmnnmnn…….I can imagine how painful that could be.

This same Moses we earlier spoke about was a stammerer, yet He was the one chosen by God to TALK to Pharaoh. Abraham had no child yet God said "I will make you a FATHER of Many nations" Jephthah was the son of a harlot, yet by Him was deliverance brought to Israel. Gideon said "behold my family is poor and I am the least in my Father's house but God said "Go in this thy might, thou mighty man of valor" .........God doesn't consult your self-perceived or obvious weaknesses to use or bless you. When He calls, just say YES LORD.....You have a clean and fantastic record before Him!

Stop the “Woe Me” tale about yourself today and start saying “Wow Me” stories. You are more than what you think. No more regrets, no more shame. Arise and shake self-pity off. Put on a sharp countenance and walk out of the door with head and shoulders high. You are the son of a King; a Prince and a Princess.

Jeremiah 29: 11- For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Have a most fulfilling weekend ahead.

The Pen…..
